ACEC-Canada recognizes WSP for PSPC-SPIB, Laboratories Canada project

Mississauga, Ont. facility earns Breton Environmental Stewardship Award.

WSP in Canada (WSP) is honoured to have been recognized by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Canada (ACEC-Canada) for its work on the PSPC-SPIB, Laboratories Canada - Mississauga Project.

The ACEC National Awards were given to 15 projects with 23 awards “… to consulting engineering firms from across Canada for their work on projects that connect communities, improve safety and enhance the quality of life in Canada and around the world.”

The PSPC-SPIB, Laboratories Canada - Mississauga Project involved an expansion and modernization of existing laboratory facilities into a 67,000 square foot research space for the Government of Canada. Achieving LEED Gold standard, the new TerraCanada Mississauga facility features solar panels, geothermal heating and a green roof, greatly improving its overall carbon footprint. Because of this, the project also received the Breton Environmental Stewardship Award.

This project represents the best in modern building practices, creating additional space on an existing footprint while significantly improving its sustainability and resilience. Congratulations to our team and our project partners for earning this well-deserved recognition from ACEC-Canada.

“This project sets a new benchmark for sustainable federal infrastructure and serves as a model for future Labs Canada initiatives. By exceeding its LEED Silver target to achieve Gold, as well as integrating geothermal, solar, and advanced lab systems, it demonstrates how ambitious environmental goals can be met. Stakeholder engagement further strengthened its replicability and long-term impact.” – ACEC-Canada
