The Salesforce Transit Center is located in the South-of-Market district of San Francisco and will accommodate 11 transportation systems under one roof.
WSP is part of the team that won the original design competition for the Salesforce Transit Center, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. Our firm serves as the engineer-of-record on the project’s transit terminal, the proposed five-acre public rooftop park and the adjacent Salesforce Tower.
We are assisting with required LEED® accreditation input and certification, with environmental performance being a central theme to the project. The project is Pre-Certified LEED Platinum. The areas of integrated sustainable design the project is focusing on include water/rainwater management, abundant use of natural daylight, reducing overall energy usage, and application of recycled materials to cut down on construction waste. The proposed energy systems for the Transit Center support the sustainable project goals by concentrating on designs that utilize low-impact strategies such as geothermal, natural ventilation, radiant systems, daylighting/shading solutions, and thermal mass coupling.
