Owners of a large open-pit mine in the United States embarked on a program to minimize ongoing risks and plan for responsible closure after the ore body is exhausted.

Using photogrammetry and 3D point cloud capabilities, teams can now record, analyze, and monitor mine slope stability more efficiently and, most importantly, from a safe distance.

Potash is a group of potassium-bearing minerals and chemicals that are found in underground deposits that must be mined. There is no substitute for potash in fertilizers, and without its beneficial boost to crop yields we would struggle to feed the world. Identifying new deposits is a part of ensuring a steady supply of potash to meet the growing demands of the world’s agricultural industry.

We harnessed automation to help a large mining client better manage water quality risks

WSP was engaged by the owner of an existing copper mine in Asia to assess the feasibility of mining deeper gold reserves.

WSP supports the Odyssey Project's transformation into the Odyssey Mine, enabling the continued development of the Canadian Malartic and Barnat pits through four main mineralized zones at depth (East Gouldie, East Malarctic, Odyssey North and Odyssey South). 

WSP has helped demonstrate safe disposal of residual waste from a smelter, in a repository designed to last for 3,000 years.

Since 2010, WSP has been providing support in the analysis and design for the closure of the tailings and waste rock facilities at Alumbrera Mine.

Selenium is one of the chemical elements found in mineral deposits of economic value; however, its presence poses a challenge in contact water treatment. Globally, WSP has experience in the design, implementation, and operation of this type of treatment plant.
