The Adam Dean Award
Adam Dean, a valued WSP colleague, championed early-career professionals. He encouraged people starting out to share their knowledge through papers, presentations and active participation in their profession.
Following his passing, we established the Adam Dean Award to carry forward this legacy. Adam believed presenting builds confidence, sharpens communication skills and helps people connect with the wider profession.
The Adam Dean Award encourages those who have not yet taken the step of presenting at a conference to develop a poster presentation. Finalists will display and present their work to a judging panel at the 2026 Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) Urban Drainage Group (UDG) Annual Conference.
We invite applications from individuals with less than four years’ experience who have not previously presented a paper. Submit a 200-word summary outlining your work.
We will select finalists based on their ability to:
- Show a clear understanding of project needs and benefits for the client, environment, or community
- Demonstrate awareness of technical challenges and/or innovation
- Describe their direct contribution to the project
- Reflect on what they learned and how they will apply it in their career
Submit your application by Friday 28 August 2026.
Send all enquiries and entries to [email protected]
We will notify finalists in early September.
