To support a global food manufacturer’s potential acquisition of a dairy company based in New Zealand, WSP was engaged as part of an advisory team to evaluate potential environmental risks and liabilities related to the acquisition. 

For more than a decade, WSP has supported a global manufacturing client in Australia with site remediation to reduce long-term environmental risks and liabilities of the client as the site shifts from operational manufacturing to decommissioning and preparing for property divestment.

The remediation of the former Giant Mine in Yellowknife, NWT, co-managed by the governments of Canada and the Northwest Territories, is a massive undertaking. The Giant Mine Remediation Project’s focus is on managing the arsenic trioxide waste and remediating the entire site. 

With three billion new consumers expected to enter the global market by 2030, demanding goods and services, the linear model of our industrial economy (take, make, waste) is not sustainable. The notion of a circular economy — where resources, waste and emissions are minimized by closing or narrowing energy and material usage loops — is gaining momentum in many sectors including manufacturing, oil & gas, and energy.

WSP worked with a group of stakeholders to develop the Boreal Caribou Habitat Restoration Pilot Program on the Parker Range in northern British Columbia.

An environmental management approach was developed to prevent and address the contamination of the site and improve the surrounding areas affected by the pollution.
