COMAH / Seveso III Consenting
Manufacturing and storage installations which hold more than a specified quantity of hazardous materials may be subject to the Control of Major Accident Hazard regulations, which implement the EU Seveso III Directive in the UK and places certain key requirements on the operator.
There are two thresholds for dangerous substances under COMAH. These threshold quantities vary for specific named dangerous substances or categories of substances and depending on which threshold is exceeded the site can fall as either a lower tier or upper tier COMAH establishment.
Our dedicated Process Safety consultants support clients finding themselves subject to COMAH due to a change in the process they operate or where clients are considering new establishments. In either case, we can manage the project throughout, from the initial discussion with the local COMAH Intervention Manager (CIM), through the notification requirements to full submission of a Lower Tier Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) and Safety Management System (SMS) or Top Tier COMAH Safety Case.
We can prepare the following related studies/applications as well:
- Hazardous Substance Consent
- Occupied Buildings Risk Assessment
- ALARP Demonstrations
