Leading engineering and environmental professional services consultancy WSP has appointed James Rowntree as Strategic Growth Director, to complement and support the business across a number of strategically important growth markets in the UK.
James brings a wealth of experience in strategy development and business growth to WSP and will support the UK business in achieving the ambitious targets set out in its 2022-24 strategy.
James was most recently at Jacobs where he was a Vice President on the firm’s European Leadership Team. Initially responsible for developing their Strategic Consulting division comprising of more than 800 people, he went on to lead the start-up telecommunications and digital infrastructure sector.
Previously, James was also Managing Director for Transportation (Europe) at CH2M and between 2016-18 was seconded to HS2 Ltd as Programme Director, Delivery Partner for HS2 Phase 1.
James’ appointment will facilitate the growth ambitions of WSP’s UK business across both public and private sector clients, focusing particularly on the Energy, Utilities, Water and Industrial sectors.
James will also lead a number of the firm’s Major Projects and strategic pursuits.
