Computational Design

Computational – or parametric design - harnesses computer capability to enable production of multiple, complex design options that can be developed quickly in response to design team feedback.

Complex design takes time to develop. Ideas form and take shape, and over time - designs are honed and adjusted in response to design team feedback. Imagine a seamless process where designs can be adapted as quickly as design decisions are made.

Using computational design tools to reduce manual modelling methods, WSP can do just this; not only working with complex geometry and building components in architectural design but adapting it quickly to respond to the varying needs of the project. By optimising structural efficiency, our teams can respond quickly to produce multiple variants of the design for the project team to review, enabling better budget control.

Finding Appropriate Architectural And Structural Shapes

When physical space constraints are relaxed or removed, we can generate forms that minimize the use of materials and in many cases - are naturally beautiful by virtue of their structural purity.
