City Rail Link (CRL) is the largest and most complex transport infrastructure project ever undertaken in Aotearoa New Zealand. As part of Link Alliance, WSP has worked with City Rail Link Ltd and Link Alliance members to help deliver a twin-tunnel underground rail link through central Auckland, including new stations at Te Waihorotiu and Karanga-a-Hape and a redeveloped Maungawhau station. The project will transform how people move through Tāmaki Makaurau, increasing rail capacity, improving access to the city centre and wider region, and enabling faster, more frequent and better-connected journeys.

In Louisville and Lexington, at least 88 wrong-way driving crashes were recorded between 2015 and 2020, though the true number is likely higher. These incidents often result in severe injuries, fatalities and major traffic disruptions. To address this growing challenge, KYTC partnered with WSP to develop a more proactive, data-driven approach to prevention.

The product of our research and development, Floodly uses machine learning methods to predict river levels and predict flood risk using only precipitation data. Floodly’s rapid predictions complement traditional hydraulic modelling, which can be slower and more costly to apply. It is also challenging in complex urban catchments.

Maricopa County’s Connected Vehicle Acceleration Zone (CVAZ) in Arizona is set to improve road safety, mobility and efficiency across one of the country’s fastest growing regions. WSP is working alongside Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) to scale the vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology that will make it possible – enabling vehicles, infrastructure and road users to communicate in real-time. 

Highways are essential for prosperity – and they can also be a threat to wildlife. Here are some ideas of how these two priorities can be met, on a highway across Kenya. 

As state departments of transportation (DOTs) increasingly prioritize optimizing existing road networks over building new, costly infrastructure, a critical gap in transportation operations guidance remained—one that WSP and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) set out to address.

WSP’s placemaking and street design specialists helped deliver a major transformation of Strand Aldwych, converting one of London’s busiest and most congested roads into a new 7,000m2 pedestrian space. This makes the area a destination in its own right and an economic and social hub.
