Central Europe, which spans eleven countries – Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey – has seen strong growth in recent years.
Sergio has been a driving force behind the region’s continued success. He joined WSP in 2021 through the Golder acquisition and has since taken on leadership roles across Italy and Southern Europe.
“Central Europe is a region of strategic importance to WSP, full of opportunity and talent,” said Mark Naysmith, Global Chief Operating Officer. “Sergio embodies the values of WSP and is exceptionally well-positioned to lead the region. His values, experience, commitment, and leadership make him the ideal choice to drive Central Europe forward as we continue to deliver on our strategic objectives.”
Sergio will retain his current responsibilities as MD of Italy and Regional MD of Southern Europe, while the other regional MDs continue in their roles under his leadership, ensuring continuity and strong collaboration across the region. He will join the Global Leadership Team, contributing his insight and experience to WSP’s global priorities.
“Being appointed President of Central Europe is a testament to the breadth of opportunities WSP offers to its people, and I am truly honoured to lead the remarkable talent that drives our region's continued success and supports WSP’s growth. Working collaboratively with these colleagues and the wider WSP community as One WSP, I am committed to pursuing the ambitious goals outlined in our 2025–2027 Strategic Action Plan,” said Sergio Settanni.
This new appointment strengthens leadership, supports alignment across markets, and positions the region to go from strength to strength as the firm pursues ambitious growth.
