As changemakers, the Business Admin team constantly enhances business practices, making our colleagues’ lives easier and improving client service delivery.
Whether it's turning around challenging reports, producing graphics efficiently, or reaching out across multiple teams together to assist with project delivery, Business Admin is at the nerve centre of WSP.
The shift to remote working has changed the way in which our department works. Lockdowns and the ongoing need for social distancing means that creating connections between colleagues, and with clients, in a virtual way has, of course, become vital. Facilitating this switch to virtual meeting platforms has been a priority for us.
During the first lockdown, I helped set up a ‘Lunchtime Learnings’ series of webinars. The format saw WSP team up with the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS) and West London Business to discuss strategies for carbon reduction and sustainable development in the wider economy. The feedback was fantastic; people loved having a chance to learn something new, meet others and talk about non-Covid topics.
It’s important to me that our teams are changemakers in the fight against climate change. We support colleagues across the business to think 'net zero first' by adopting sustainable processes like the single use plastics policy – encouraging colleagues to reduce and eliminate the amount they use from their work and home lives.
Outside of work, I am a changemaker too. I avoid buying ‘fast fashion’ and buy my food from ethical and responsible suppliers. I am inspired by the actress, screenwriter and director Michaela Coel. She is helping to change the narrative about what it is to be a black woman in the UK.
