Through our advisory work, we support clients to identify their place and the role they can play within nature markets. We also help identify the potential risks and opportunities our clients are exposed to and the potential to address these through the valuation of natural assets and emerging solutions. We ensure that our advice is connected into the wider landscape of nature-related standards, frameworks and reporting.

We support every stage, from vision to delivery, helping clients map natural capital, design resilient strategies, and align with frameworks like the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

We work across five strategic areas:

1. Services to Local Government: we provide advisory services to Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) and Combined Authorities (CAs) through bespoke solutions to support delivery of statutory duties and facilitate bridging the knowledge gaps between actors within nature markets.
   
   
2. Business Resilience: we help infrastructure operators and other asset owning clients to identify where implementing nature-based solutions has the potential to provide business benefits, connecting measurable outcomes to emerging nature markets, and providing an economic business case to support nature recovery. Our approach helps clients undertake Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and deliver nature strategies.
   
   
3. Marine & Coastal Resilience: we work with clients operating in the coastal and marine environment to identify opportunities relating to the sustainable blue economy and climate resilience, including marine habitat banks and blue carbon. We complement our work on Nature Inclusive Design and climate risk and resilience services. Our approach builds ecosystems thinking, social value and Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) from the outset.
   
   
4. Nature in Towns & Cities: our extensive experience of designing green-blue infrastructure in urban environments enables us to identify novel perspectives on how to fund nature recovery opportunities in urban areas. By developing bespoke strategies and implementing the emerging urban greening code, we transform strategic thinking into tangible actions that provide multiple benefits to communities and provide a unique perspective on how to fund them.
   
   
5. Technical Assessment & Due Diligence Services: we offer expert technical advice and due diligence of nature recovery plans to investors and asset managers, using our ecological expertise to assess the feasibility of predicted environmental outcomes and reviewing proposed metrics and monitoring plans. Our assessments inform project development and risk management.

We provide technical advice to help clients tackle nature-related challenges using data, science, and strategy. Our nature markets guidance clarifies roles, assesses risks and opportunities, and enable clients to use nature-based solutions as part of their toolkit to addressing business needs. We collaborate with FCA regulated partners when investment advice is required, ensuring WSP remains a technical advisor.
