Danny Arlett spent 25 years of his career in the Army, signing up when he was a self-professed ‘snotty’ 16-year-old and coming out a quarter of a century later as a well-rounded adult, keen to take on a new challenges. With 10 medals under his belt, including the Meritorious Service Award for 25 years’ unblemished service, Danny’s contribution to the UK has been extensive and he continues to give back to the industry he now works in by appointing the right people to roles that keep the country moving and connected.
For me, it’s all about people and building great teams. I feel that my purpose in the specialism I’m in, is to drive people forwards through support and mentoring, and there’s nothing better than seeing the value I’ve added to someone’s career as they progress.
The Army teaches you multiple roles. You must be adaptable in any given situation. From day 1, it’s all about flexibility which instils that level of determination in me and the ex-military candidates I see applying for roles at WSP.
