Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Wilton, Wollondilly Shire Council

A fast-growing town on the outskirts of Sydney is demonstrating that urbanization of greenfield areas need not be chaotic, strained, and unsustainable – and that it can accommodate the needs and wishes of existing and new residents. We worked with the local authority in Wollondilly Shire, to develop a strategy for urban development that makes sure that, as Wilton’s population expands, the health and wellbeing of its residents remains the central focus. Our proposals will prioritize social infrastructure, better transport connections, and stable and affordable housing, while maintaining connections with the town’s traditional farming roots through green space, healthy food, and biodiversity.

The Parklands Project, Gold Coast

On one of the largest urban renewal projects undertaken in Queensland, we helped Grocon achieve its ambitious, multiple sustainability goals, including the highest possible Green Star Communities rating of six stars. Our holistic sustainability approach, thinking beyond green design to the scheme’s place in the circular economy, has reinvented the area as a healthy, accessible and resilient place for the community to live, work and play for years to come.

Set over 14 hectares, the colorful apartments, parks, community pool and sports facilities embody healthy living, and link to the scheme’s initial purpose - hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Fishermans Bend

Fishermans Bend is a large industrial area in the heart of Melbourne. Set to be the largest urban renewal in Australia, Fishermans Bend will consist of five precincts across two municipalities and connect Melbourne's CBD to the bay. By 2050, the area spanning approximately 491 hectares is expected to home approximately 80,000 new residents and provide employment for up to 80,000 people.

Our work, and the framework was particularly focused on engaging the community to ensure that technology acts as an enabler, rather than a driver, of positive outcomes for the Fishermans Bend community. The smart city initiatives will help to deliver triple bottom line benefits – social, environmental and financial.
