In the quest to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and boost social outcomes, it can be hard for Aotearoa New Zealand’s urban communities to know where to start. Now, thanks to a new WSP research project, they can see what’s worked well elsewhere.

For the third consecutive year, WSP has upheld the No. 1 position in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) annual list of Top 225 International Design Firms.  

Between 2010 and 2020 there were fifty-two fatal and serious-injury incidents at level crossings in Aotearoa New Zealand. In an effort to reduce these kinds of incidents, KiwiRail has commissioned WSP's Human Factors and Behavioural Science team to research how best to alter level crossings to reduce the likelihood of vehicle/train collisions.

In a major new research report, the Helen Clark Foundation and WSP in New Zealand are recommending a series of actions to respond to the escalating impacts of climate change-induced extreme rainfall events. These include excluding vulnerable flood-prone areas from development and incorporating mātauraunga Māori knowledge to minimise urban flood risk.
