Infrastructure New Zealand is a leading membership infrastructure association. It advances best practice development of transport, energy, water, telecommunications, and social infrastructure for all New Zealanders.
INZ board members typically serve a three-year term. They play an important role in setting the organisation’s overall direction and exercise an oversight function.
Of Ngāi Tahu (Tūāhuriri), Ngāti Mamoe, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Porou (Tūtekawa) and Ngāti Pākehā whakapapa, Alayna has significant experience working with indigenous communities locally and internationally.
With a focus on indigenous mana motuhake, or the rights for first peoples to self-determine, Alayna works with clients and consultants at WSP to translate values into tangible processes and outcomes.
She believes that even the most engineered infrastructure solutions can shape a more equitable society, provide social and economic uplift, tell the story and whakapapa of our nation and achieve broader outcomes for Aotearoa.
Alayna sits on several other boards and panels as an indigenous design advisory specialist and has held director and executive level leadership roles in multi-national design firms and government agencies. Her sector experience encompasses education, health, corrections, infrastructure, housing, commercial, environmental and placemaking.
More information about the work of Infrastructure New Zealand can be found here.
Congratulations Alayna on this appointment!
