Established as a charitable trust in 2002, the Foundation supports Engineering New Zealand’s current and future members with their careers and wellbeing.
Josiah joins an eight-strong group of Board trustees who oversee the Foundation's trust fund and make sure its mission to grow the future of engineering in Aotearoa is achieved.
A principal stormwater engineer in WSP's Tauranga office, Josiah is passionate about creating future-focused water solutions that benefit communities through low-impact and culturally sensitive design.
After receiving industry recognition earlier this year as Young Stormwater Professional of the Year and talking with industry leaders who encouraged him to explore governance opportunities, he found the Foundation aligned with his passion to foster Māori and Pacific representation in STEM. That lead him to apply, be interviewed, and ultimately secure the Board position.
"I'm looking forward to contributing to the Foundation's efforts in supporting the engineering industry; especially promoting more rangitahi Māori and Pacific people into engineering, and supporting those already in the field," he says.
