Matthew succeeds Ben Holland, who is relocating to Montreal to take up the role of Chief Financial Officer for WSP in Canada after more than 20 years with WSP in New Zealand.
Matthew joins WSP from commercial law firm Dentons, where he has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2022. He brings more than 25 years’ experience leading finance and commercial functions in professional services, project-based and client-focused organisations across New Zealand and internationally.
His background includes senior leadership roles with engineering consultancy Harrison Grierson, consumer products company Trilogy International, GE Capital Golub and successors, and Auckland Rugby Football Union.
WSP in New Zealand Managing Director Ian Blair says Matthew brings strong commercial leadership and broad professional services experience to the role.
“I’m delighted to welcome Matthew to WSP. He brings deep financial expertise, a practical understanding of professional services and project-based businesses, and a clear focus on helping teams make good decisions with the right information.
“I’d also like to acknowledge Ben's outstanding contribution to WSP in New Zealand. He has given over two decades of service to our business and has been an excellent CFO. We wish him every success as he takes up his new role with WSP in Canada.”
Matthew says he is looking forward to joining WSP and working alongside the New Zealand leadership team to drive growth and deliver a lasting impact across New Zealand while helping shape WSP’s long-term success.
“WSP is involved in work that matters for clients and communities across the country, and I’m excited to be joining the business. For me, a strong finance function helps get the right information to the right people at the right time. That means supporting good decisions, enabling growth and helping the business deliver well for clients.”
