Blenheim
Acting locally means being present in our communities. With offices throughout the world, you can connect with one close to you, here and everywhere in New Zealand.
WSP in Blenheim hosts a variety of experts to aid in the development of creative, sustainable solutions for our community.
Marlborough is a large wine growing region, with 450 thousand tonnes of grapes harvested from 40 thousand hectares of vineyard around the district. This puts tremendous pressure on both our 260km of state highway and 1520km of local roads. These roads are maintained by the Marlborough Network Outcomes Contract (N.O.C), a joint venture between our partners Fulton Hogan and HEB construction.
WSP Blenheim provides a sub consultant service to the N.O.C., committing 5 full time professional staff that provide specialist pavement knowledge, design, expertise, Asset & Network Control Management, Geotech and Planning along with a Road Safety Engineering. These services contribute to the success and safety of Marlborough’s vital $2 Billion wine industry, tourism and local commerce.
Marlborough is also a region of the sea. Within its borders there are 1800km of coastline, an eighth of New Zealand’s total coastal area. These maritime environments are vital to our culture and economy with our second largest population centre, Picton, being both the heart of the Marlborough sounds and the tie between the South Islands and the North. WSP in Blenheim has been involved with many projects in this area, of note is the recent redevelopment concept designs completed for Port Marlborough at Picton, which will conclude with the construction of the new Interisland ferry terminal.
Blenheim has a steadily increasing population, predominantly due to the economic prosperity within the region. Our Three Waters Engineering team assist in facilitating the growth of Blenheim by providing their expertise to Marlborough District Council. These services include project management, design and quality control on everything from New water reservoirs to earthquake damaged sewer pipes and renewals.
Marlborough stretches from the inland Kaikoura Ranges in the south to the sea-flooded valleys of the Marlborough sounds in the north. This wildly diverse landscape requires some unique engineering solutions to allow our highways and roads to snake through our region. Our bridging teams helps to maintain and renew a large variety of structures, over 900 in total, that allow movement in and around our region by bridging, retaining or otherwise spanning these natural obstacles.
Our depth of personal and professional knowledge of the Blenheim region impacts how we tailor our approach to your needs and the needs of our community. We are proud to be part of the Blenheim community and helping you to create what matters for the future of the region we call home.
