Delivering a Vital Service
Logan Water Alliance has delivered new and improved water, wastewater and recycled water infrastructure throughout the Logan district.
The next phase of the alliance will see $180M of water and wastewater infrastructure services across Logan City, from July 2015 for at least the next three years. It is a public and private sector enterprise involving Logan City Council and engineering services providers WSP, Tenix, and Cardno.
Sound Project Management to Serve the Community
In Logan, one of Queensland’s fastest growing areas, the program benefits the regional economy, environment and community by providing new and improved infrastructure to support the growing population. This includes extending high standard water services to communities that have not previously had access to them. The project also involves installing sustainable infrastructure wherever possible to minimize lifecycle costs, greenhouse gas emissions, overflows, odors, and other environmental impacts.
The Logan Water Alliance team can deliver up to AUD 50 million of capital works each year. Their main activities include:
Program management: overall management of the program and its key personnel, and provision of program-wide services such as community engagement
Planning and project development: investigation, planning, project prioritization and feasibility studies, to help Logan City Council decide whether/how to proceed with particular infrastructure works
Project delivery: developing project budgets and the design, construction and commissioning of approved infrastructure
Logan Water Alliance won the Infrastructure Project Innovation award at the Australian Water Association’s Queensland awards in 2011.
In 2012, Logan Water Alliance won the Reports, Procedures and Systems award at the Queensland Engineering Australia’s Excellence Awards.
In October 2012, the Logan Water Alliance won the ‘Water, Wastewater, Sewerage and Drought Management’ category (projects $1 million to $5 million) at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Queensland Excellence awards.
