Our Petone office has 43+ strong staff with expertise covering various disciplines, including:
- Asset and materials testing and performance
- Measurement devices and instrumentation (in real-time)
- Geotechnical monitoring, structural monitoring, seismic monitoring, traffic counting with the WSP traffic sensor and water monitoring
- Wind engineering
- Development of new roading materials such as bitumen replacements, roading performance and skid design and measurement
- Design
- Human factors
- Infrastructure and manufacturing facilities
- Behavioural and social sciences predominantly in transport and climate change
As an accredited Research and Development Centre with Inland Revenue, the team in Petone undertake research for clients who are then able to claim R&D tax credits.
Through our research and consultancy work, WSP Research contributes to the advancement of innovative solutions, sustainable practices, and resilient infrastructure systems.
The Petone Office is also home to our Environmental Training Centre (ETC). ETC is a registered Private Training Establishment offering Certificates and Diplomas in water and wastewater servicing around 90% of water training needs in New Zealand. ETC also offers numerous short courses as well as major programmes such as Ministry for the Environment Resource Management Act Commissioner Training - “Making Good Decisions Programme".
