Predicting where our heritage lies

Kaikōura is situated on the eastern coast of the South Island in New Zealand (NZ). In November 2016, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the town. Ruptures occurred on multiple fault lines and Kaikōura’s road and rail links were severely impacted on, and in some areas completely destroyed.

In 2012, a  Christchurch Central Recovery Plan was developed with a vision to reinvigorate Christchurch and bring more people back to the area, further encouraging greater investment and economic growth. The Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is a part of this changing landscape and will be a catalyst for further development of the city centre.

WSP provided the design for the Tauranga Eastern link, a four lane motorway to the east of the city to cater the growth of Port of Tauranga, and the development of new residential, commercial and industrial land in eastern Bay of Plenty.

WSP is the Lead Civils and Systems Designer for Bogota’s long-awaited Metro Line 1.

The Mt Messenger section of the state highway network is strategically important to the Taranaki region and provides access to northern markets and export outlets, tourism linkages and access to health, cultural and other services.

SH6 Waiho Bailey Bridge is located just south of the Franz Josef township and is a key connection for the West Coast of New Zealand. The Bailey Bridge was first constructed in 1990 and has since been raised and extended three times due to significant aggradation of the river bed.

Through this project, we developed and tested a range of public transport and alternative travel methods across the Waitemata Harbour.

At WSP, we strive to help our clients manage and reduce impacts related to sustainability, climate change, energy and the environment by providing them the best practice solutions, and we are proud to contribute to the global efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The project brought together our expertise in bridge, foundation and lighting design, as well as landscape architecture.

The area around Karens Minde in Copenhagen's old South Harbour district is to be urbanized and climate-adapted as part of a single project.

The first public art museum in Australia to achieve a 6-star Green Star design rating. WSP worked with Atelier Ten and the Art Gallery of New South Wales during the design phase to ensure ecologically sustainable design outcomes were achieved.

At the end of 2024, a new quay of no less than 800 meters in length will enable better access to the Vlissingen-Oost port area, the Sloe area. WSP was appointed to design the project, which is characterized by a fast turnaround time, partly due to the optimal use of a relatively simple combi-wall construction.
