Systems Assurance in Rail

As one of the most substantial transportation projects ever built in the UK, the new line has attracted its share of controversy, with much of the concern related to the potential scale of impacts.

WSP is the Lead Civils and Systems Designer for Bogota’s long-awaited Metro Line 1.

In the early 1980s, WSP, in joint venture, prepared an alternatives analysis and a draft environmental impact statement that examined options for light rail and expanded bus service for the Portland metropolitan area. The TriCounty Metropolitan Transit District of Oregon (TriMet) opted to build one of the first modern light rail systems in the United States, known as MAX (Metropolitan Area Express).

The City Rail Link (CRL) C3 pre-condition survey project was to survey the condition of the buildings located in close proximity to the 3.5 km long double-track rail tunnel underneath Auckland's city centre, between Britomart Transport Centre and Karangahape railway station for the purpose of mitigating risk from stakeholder financial claims.

When it opened on February 6, 2010, the new line reduced travel time between Zhengzhou and X’ian in China from up to 11 hours to about 2 hours.

The Greater West program is a complex program that will deliver a step change in the performance, capacity and connectivity across the Western and Wales Routes, in the UK.

Since 2007, we have worked to secure funding, develop, expand, and enhance Greater Manchester’s iconic tram system. 

With congestion forecasted to double by 2021, Edinburgh needed to address the issue of transport capacity. The development of a new tram system provided a solution to the city’s growing public transport needs.

WSP serves as Industry Systems Integrator for this complex large-scale rail project, providing stakeholders with high value strategic insights. 

Innovative design, new construction techniques and staged construction saved time, money and reduced the impact of construction of five bridges on heavily trafficked Auckland roads.

WSP applied precisely the SI:D3 approach to support the client to recover the program and enter a fully integrated system into revenue service.
