With Australia’s infrastructure industry undergoing a shift, Sam is looking forward to joining industry leaders to address challenges and opportunities.
Describing a shift in how and where funding is allocated, Sam says, “The focus for many years was on mega road and rail transport infrastructure projects, but as we move into the next few decades that will diversify and include aviation, maritime, energy and water projects.
“The market and problems may change but solving them with a team remains the same. It's all about transferring skills and adapting to new demands.”
She believes that there is a great opportunity to leverage existing skills from within transport for the new wave of project delivery.
Sam joins four other women on the Consult Australia Board. An advocate for diversity within teams, Sam explains, “As consultants, we design infrastructure for society, so it makes sense that our teams should reflect the diversity of that society.
“Our work is really all about people – and bringing together diverse perspectives is how we get there.”
With WSP for 21-years, Sam has been integral in delivering technical expertise and excellence on high profile transport infrastructure projects including High Speed Rail, the Regional Rail Maintenance Facility, Sydney Metro and South Island Line in Hong Kong.
