Bringing infrastructure to life
We are a market leader in the adoption of new delivery models that better align with client and complex project needs. WSP’s suite of delivery service models range from high-level strategic advice to owner’s team services, through various levels of project management-only models (e.g., EPCM, PMC, and Delivery Partner).
The acquisition of Calibre has greatly expanded our capacity to deliver major capital, infrastructure and EPCM projects. We partner with clients to safely execute smart designs, bringing projects from concept through to commissioning.
Using a risk-based approach, we partner with our clients on some of Australia’s largest private and public multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects. Our clients include defence and Indigenous communities along with land developers, mining companies and private enterprise.
Managing project delivery
EPCM
The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) model can generate considerable savings for owners needing close control of technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle phases.
It has also been successful among mining and process industry sectors where project design constraints evolve with the project.
As a pure-play engineering services firm, EPCM has been central to our project delivery services globally since the 1970s and with the acquisition of Calibre our capabilities have grown substantially within Australia.
EPCM models have delivered some of our most efficient and successful projects, recognised in industry awards and in our longstanding relationships for continuous EPCM-style delivery of capital projects for repeat clients over many decades.
PMC
PMC engagements are fast becoming the industry-standard approach for managing project delivery in Australia. Generally, projects have also shifted to using fixed-price contracting models, where value can be realised if managed by experienced project leaders.
As a result, asset owners require assurance of progress against project budget, schedule, quality, and health–safety– environment outcomes. The PMC team also typically identifies and tracks risks, administers contracts, controls documents, integrates reporting, and provides the full scope of management services and methodology required to deliver a major project.
Delivery partner
This is a newer form of project delivery within Australia and is based on WSP’s approach used to oversee construction of infrastructure for the successful delivery of the Pacific Highway, Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade on the east coast.
The Delivery Partner model combines elements from a range of project delivery models including Managing Contractor, Design– Construct, Alliance, Program Management, and Early Contractor Involvement.
This model supports collaboration and innovation by encouraging the best ideas and solutions from the private sector through direct engagement of design, management, and construction skills within an integrated team.
Bringing best practice management to clients
Underpinning success is our Project Management Office (PMO), which has been proven in the delivery of projects and programs across multiple sectors and sizes. The PMO brings best practice management to any client in a way that complements the client’s processes, systems, and procedures.
Our PMO is customisable, adaptable, and flexible to support project-specific needs and requirements.
