Building for communities
The Victorian Government has committed to building 10 community hospitals across Victoria, supporting growing communities and providing better access to many important ‘everyday’ health services closer to home.
Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), the $675M Community Hospitals Program will include the redevelopment of existing facilities and the new build of additional facilities that will improve the way public healthcare is delivered.
The locations of the 10 community hospital sites are:
- Cranbourne
- Craigieburn
- Phillip island
- Sunbury
- Eltham Area
- Pakenham
- Point Cook
- Torquay
- City of Whittlesea
- Inner south of Melbourne
Improving access to health services
In the initial planning stages of this project, WSP was engaged to deliver the masterplanning and feasibility phases of the program. Following these phases, we were appointed to the delivery phases of the program.
The scope of work involves a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing:
- Structural and civil engineering
- Building services
- Sustainability advisory services
- Fire safety engineering
- Technology services
Upon completion in late 2024, community hospitals will reduce pressure on major public hospitals and improve access to locally available public health care services in growing communities across Victoria.
