Aviation team soaring with new appointments

We’re excited to announce the appointment of three new members of our Aviation team in Australia: Gareth Williamson, Ivan Phung and Tony Markovski.

Together, they bring more than 60 years’ experience across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Mauritius, and the UK to our Australian team across a wide range of technical skillsets.

Gareth Williamson, Aviation Executive

Gareth joins us from WSP in New Zealand where he led aviation consulting. He is adept at delivering strategy and planning for airports, airlines, and the wider aviation industry. He has a keen interest in the development of Australia’s growing aviation sector and supporting broader economic and social outcomes.

Ivan Phung, Technical Executive Aviation

Ivan has substantial experience in airfield pavement design and the management of airfield projects.

He is “excited to join WSP because it is a global powerhouse with a presence on every continent. The opportunity to be involved in international projects and knowledge transfer is incredibly appealing to me.”

With a strong focus on innovation, Ivan was the first in Australia to introduce and successfully implement PG Specification for binder selection at project level - a major step forward in pavement technology and contributed to stronger, more reliable outcomes in pavement performance. In another Australian first, he implemented EME2 asphalt on an airfield project, demonstrating how engineering solutions can deliver real-world benefits.

Tony Markovski, Principal Aviation Planner

Tony has worked extensively on all major capital city airports in Australia, along with many regional airports.

He excels in all stages of airport planning and design, from conceptual to detailed design, with a strong focus on the finer details. This ensures high-quality, efficient, and safe airport infrastructure.
