WSP alongside ACCIONA, CPB Contractors, UGL and SMEC will work in partnership with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail to progress design and project planning activities.
This transformative infrastructure project is set to revolutionise rail services between Brisbane, Logan, and the Gold Coast, connecting our growing communities, boosting the local economy and creating a more efficient and reliable transportation network.
The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project will double the number of tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh, reducing waiting times at stations between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The project will also remove level crossings; upgrade stations; and improve access and connectivity along the 20-kilometre project corridor.
The Australian Government and Queensland Government are jointly funding this transformative project, with a total investment of $5.75 billion. Each government is contributing $2.875 billion to make this vision a reality.
WSP has been involved in the project since 2018, from the concept design through to the business case stages. Our multidisciplinary teams from across Australia, including our rail, bridges, roads, building services, structures, geotechnical and environmental teams, have significantly contributed to the project.
Tom Cook, Regional Director, says, "We are proud to be part of this transformative project alongside our Alliance Partners to support the Queensland Government in delivering faster rail that will significantly enhance connectivity for our growing communities in Brisbane, Logan, and the Gold Coast, and be one of the critical links in preparing for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games."
