Australian Embassy, Bangkok

The Australian Embassy is located within the embassy quarter in central Bangkok, Thailand. The project comprises three buildings: the chancery, Head of Mission’s residence and the entry and guardhouse pavilion. The lighting design highlights the distinctive building forms and elaborate landscaping and water elements.

Lighting Design 

WSP’s Sydney based lighting designers worked closely with BVN Architects on this award-winning project. The lighting design focuses on cultural relationships, referencing both Thai and Australian precedents.

The lighting levels are enhanced at entry points to provide a sense of welcome and to enhance intuitive wayfinding against a background of soft highlights to water and landscape features. Indirect lighting illuminates contemporary features and fine detailing. The lighting levels can be modulated to suit safety and security requirements.
