This is the largest police building in the state’s history and the department occupies all of Building 1, which is a 10-storey tower with space for more than 1,000 staff.
The new buildings had to align with the South Australian (SA) State Strategic Plan and firmly demonstrate leadership in triple bottom line accountability. The project was delivered as an integrated base building and fit out solution. The fit-out of the headquarters included appropriate spaces for the executive offices, firearms, records, police prosecutors, anti-corruption and sex crimes investigations branches.
Performance and Value
We provided specialist environmental design services for the Yorke Corporate Campus Base Building 1, as well as fit-out services for the SA Police headquarters.
The environmentally-sensitive design objectives included:
- Conservation and re-use of water
- Improved indoor environmental quality
- Sustainable sourcing and use of materials, including recycling and waste
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions
We used passive chilled beams, low-energy lighting solutions and a strong metering solution to reduce emissions.
Valuable Outcomes
This purpose-built building meets the operational and security requirements of the SA Police and maximises flexibility and efficiency as well as comfort for the building’s occupants. The building incorporates significant environmental initiatives and has achieved SA’s only 5 Star Green Star Office Design V3 and As-Built V3 Rating, as well as a 5 star NABERS Energy Rating for the base building.
